Centre of Competence for the Licensing of Electronic Resources (KfL)

Project object

On behalf of the German Research Foundation (DFG) the Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen (SUB Göttingen)/coordination, the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (SBB) and the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek München (BSB) have set up the Centre of Competence for the Licensing of Electronic Resources (KfL), a project funded by the DFG within the system framework of the Specialised Information Services for Science and Scholarship ("Fachinformationsdienste für die Wissenschaft", FID). The KfL supports the Specialised Information Services (FID) in fulfilling their task by acting as a Germany-wide service provider.
In addition to negotiating and providing digital media on a supra-regional scale on behalf of the FID, the KfL also develops suitable licensing and business models as well as manages the metadata acquired with the licenses. The project partners contribute independent, complementary tasks to the project.
