Have you lost or forgotten something in the Staatsbibliothek?
We’re happy to help! Please contact the entrance control in the respective building as soon as you notice the loss. If you only realize the loss later, you can also reach us by phone or email – you’ll find the relevant contact details in the right-hand column. Please describe as precisely as possible what you lost and when.

How can you retrieve your lost property?
If a lost item has been found, you can collect it in person. To help us identify the item correctly, please bring official identification with you (i.e. ID-card or passport); receipt of the item will be confirmed in writing.

How long are lost items kept?
Found items are usually kept at the lost and found office of the respective building for up to six months. After that, they may be passed on, auctioned, or donated, depending on the type of item. For objects that cannot reasonably be stored for this period, the library reserves the right to dispose of them otherwise.
