The newspaper collection is with 8.300 titles extraordinarily comprehensive. It spans all types of newspapers – dailies, weeklies, and on rare occasions, monthlies – from both Germany and abroad. The collection is dating back to the very origins of newspaper publishing.

The News Media Unit focuses on digitizing and enhancing access to historical newspapers. It also supports initiatives that raise awareness of the valuable role newspapers play as a resource for research and education.
