East Asia

Conversion of Card Catalogues

The current holdings of the East Asia Department, including electronical ressources, are listed in the Online Catalogue of the East Asia Department. Older segments are documented in part only in card catalogues accessible to the public in the open access reading room of the EAD, or are available in print:

  • Staatsbibliothek Preußischer Kulturbesitz. Katalog der Ostasienabteilung. Ed. R. Krempien. Vols. 1-19. Osnabrück 1983-1986
  • Staatsbibliothek Preußischer Kulturbesitz. Zeitschriftenkatalog der Ostasienabteilung. Vols. 1-4. Berlin 1978-1983
  • Kraft, Eva: Japanische Handschriften und traditionelle Drucke aus der Zeit vor 1868 im Besitz der Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz. Wiesbaden 1982

Since 2009, all card catalogues are gradually being converted into digital format, providing a combined electronical documentation in the online catalogue of the EAD.

Conversion of the old Hanyu Pinyin Catalogue, containing about 85,000 entries, has been completed.
At present (2011), the historical inventory of the East Asia collection (Libri sin., Libri jap., and the works described by Eva Kraft) is being converted.
Furthermore, the inventory segments of the Alphabetical Title Catalogue which are available in printed form as well, are also being converted.
