Orient-Digital: Development of a Union Catalogue of Oriental Manuscripts
Project object
The aim of the project is to build a union catalog and portal for oriental manuscripts in Germany. In the first phase of the project, the metadata of approximately 22,000 Arabic, Persian and Ottoman-Turkish manuscripts from more than 25 cooperating institutions will be recorded. The focus is on establishing common cataloging standards, converting printed catalogs into electronic ones, and merging all existing databases. A first version of the new portal is expected to be accessible during Q2 2022 at the URL www.qalamos.net.
