Digitization of Max von Oppenheim's Islamic manuscripts
Project object
The aim of the project is the complete digitization of 350 manuscripts and a selection of the book bindings and, as a prerequisite for this, the completion of the cataloguing of the collection. Most of the objects come from the private collection of the German diplomat, archaeologist and Oriental traveler Max von Oppenheim (1860-1946)
The manuscripts of the Max von Oppenheim Foundation were recently taken over by the Orient Department as a deposit. After decades of being barely accessible, they have now returned to the place where von Oppenheim worked and are now being fully indexed and made available in digital form. There are numerous links to other collections in the Berlin museums.
