The Specialised Information Service Asia (Fachinformationsdienst Asien) aims to establish and reliably operate an information service for the German Asia-related sciences that is geared to top scientific needs. Since 2016, the project has been a significant impulse for the further development of the CrossAsia Portal. The focus is on Chinese language and culture, Japan, Korea, Central Asia (Mongolia and Central Asian regions of China), and Southeast Asia.
In the years between 2010 and 2014 the East Asia Department of Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (Berlin State Library) digitized selected parts of its Berlin holdings. The digitization project encompassed five segments of the collection in East Asian languages: the Waddell collection of Tibetan texts, the Manchu collection, the collection of pre-modern Japanese books (Libri japonici), the old China collection (Libri sinici) and the collection of the German sinologist Erich Haenisch.
In our Digitised Collections you will find an overview of digitisation projects and access to various collections, such as the Mongolian Maps, the Battle Coppers and Lao and Northern Thai Manuscripts.
The pioneering virtual research environment CrossAsia Campus is open to all registered CrossAsia users. It was developed in a DFG-funded project between 1.03.2010 - 31.03.2011. There you have a small cloud storage.
Here you will find all information on our publication series "Neuerwerbungen der Ostasienabteilung".
