With Shenbao 申报, the East Asia Department provides access to the digitised  "first" Chinese daily newspaper, "The Shun Pao" (1872-1949).

The provision of Shenbao was financially supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) in the framework of DFG-Nationallizenzen.
Producer of both the data base and the full-texts is the Chinese company GreenApple.

Articles are offered both as full-texts and scans. You may search via a time index (year, month, day), full-text or, name search.
