Provenance Research, Nazi Looted Books and ways of distribution before and after 1945
Project object
During the Third Reich, the Prussian State Library as the largest academic library in Germany did receive numerous assignments of stolen books. As the Prussian State Library's legal successor, the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin accepts her responsibility and systematically checks her collections for Nazi looted books. In addition, the SBB provides fundamental research about central institutions and ways of distribution before and after 1945 (Reichtstauschstelle, ZWA etc.).
